Turbos are fine for people who actually take care of their cars. Most people don’t do that.

Turbo means more fuel required to me, plus a major weakpoint. To be frank, NA as your daily driver and turbo/super as your weekend/fixer.

Why not to buy a car with an electronic hand brake

Rev up you...emissions requirements and lower weight and higher mpg. In theory.

Probably why Lexus has kept many of their naturally aspirated engines for 2019.

Yeah... think I'll stick with me NA 114 hp 2.3liter Volvo redblocks... Slow and steady wins the race.

To be more specific, when Scotty says "driving fast", he means "accelerating fast". Otherwise spot on.

At first i was skeptical with the video.. but at the end, I enjoyed learning with Scotty. He gets right to the point. Kept the video to a minimal & hit all the key points.
Thanks

Scotty, you should know better. The little old lady from Pasadena, drove real fast, drove real hard and was the terror of Colorado Boulevard in her Super Stock Dodge.

I'm not much of a car person myself, I only work on my 40 year old Simson Schwalbe, but your vids are always calming. You're awesome!

Last new car, I had choice of turbo 1.5 litre or conventional 2.4 in a ford fusion. I went with 2.4 for the reasons you explained. Cost of repair on a turbo. I haven't regretted the descsion.

My girlfriend has a 1.6 L turbocharged Kia Optima. Real world miles per gallon is about 30. Her job is 36 miles from home. All highway driving so she's getting to work for about 1 gallon of gas. And it's running on 87 octane 10% ethanol. She was driving a 315 horsepower Camaro, naturally aspirated with a big V6. Obviously the Camaro was a nicer car if you look at luxury, skid pad performance and acceleration Etc. But for the money it's pretty hard to beat a small turbocharged vehicle. Until it comes time to do maintenance. Because those turbocharged cars sure do go through spark plugs a lot quicker. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us

Smart video Scotty! I own old 2001. naturaly aspirated diesel VW Lupo 1.7 SDI, with 59 bhp, cheap to run, no engine repairs so far, and burn no engine oil. Reliability over performance is good choice for slower drivers! 💪💪💪

Love your channel Scotty you always motivate and inspire me, I've always been into cars since the first remote controlled toy I got and the obsession only gets worse every year. You're actually the reason I started my channel and recently got back into it because of you too. Thank you for being such a great mentor and example for the younger generation and everyone really to learn from.

My son bought a 1.5 turbo-charged Mercedes Diesel A Class (no he didn't consult me first!). The turbo went at just over 30k would you believe! Thankfully it was covered by warranty otherwise over £900 (GB pounds) for the part alone. Yeah, I'm always checking the quality of engine oil on this car for him. When I first started driving in '68 "turbocharging" just meant adding a bit of Redex to the petrol (haha).

You reminded me of seeing young kids in their lifted diesel trucks revving their engines and turn it right off. It’s great on a turbo to still be spinning for 1-2 minutes later without lubrication.
