I got major anxiety on the last one. I thought only seeing darkness would be bad, but seeing nothing but light and shadow seems worse somehow.

That really helps the rest of us to understand what blind people are dealing with. That was a great video.

This is amazing. I have a friend who is blind from birth. No light, complete blackout. He blindfolded me and had me walk through my house. Everyone, including me, was laughing. He said we laugh because we can take off the blindfold. We all changed how we do things. It's was dead quiet after that, and we all got how hard life is for him. We all swore to change our lives to help him.

I had major cataract surgery in Jan. '24. This was quite accurate. Get your eyes checked and fixed. Being able to see again was such a gift. Very emotional.

This is super informative! Thank you! I didn’t know blindness existed on a spectrum

It's actually really really painful to think of those suffering from this 😢

😊A reminder to not take our eyes for granted. It's an enormous blessing that most people are, ironically, blinded to.

Got diagnosed with MS after getting blind. I was taking the metro when out of nowhere I had suddenly a grey cover creeping over my eyes. Took about 3-4 days to gradually lose my eyesight, I could see only lights and shadows. A week of treatment and we got it back to 90-95% (Thank you modern medicine). It's scary when you lose something taken so granted for free. It still deteriorates on one eye when I am very tired or stressed and it's a grim reminder but apparently treatment works..for now.

my mom suddenly went blind 2 years ago. cataract in one eye and glaucoma in the other. it was the biggest shock and hardest time in my life. her whole life was upside down and it has never been the same ever since. if u read this please remember to be grateful if you are in a healthy body and don’t ever take it for granted. please always be kind and help the disabled people around you because it could be you or your loved ones one day.

This is needed for the world to understand.

I appreciate you helping with the misunderstanding of how there's is different ways to be blind.

Blind people are always discriminated or treated in a belittling way I have noticed.

My dad has one eye with macular and the other with glaucoma. Although he has been treated for years, he is losing his eyesight. Your video has helped me truly understand what he is going through. I have shared it with my sister and mom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart❤

My grandmother suffered with both glaucoma and macular degeneration. I had no idea this is what her life was like in terms of seeing. Breaks my heart.

Interesting timing( and appreciated) I’m in Australia and read an article about a girl with low vision ( she can still do most things and even play tennis) and the discrimination against her in trying to find a job was horrendous. If she put it on her resume she got nothing, if she left it off n got an interview but told them, she never heard back and once she tried not telling until she was employed and showed she could do the job but still got sacked and the manager said to her, they regretted ever hiring her! It scarred her for so long. Disgraceful discrimination. People with all kinds of disabilities can still work! Thanks for educating us ❤

As a child i always used to think that if you were completely blind, you would see just a black screen. It wasnt until i was about 8, i met someone who was completely blind and i asked him what its like if you can just see darkness. He said to me "Its not darkness i see. Its nothing. Its like looking out of your elbow. Theres nothing." And that has stuck with me, i cant even begin to imagine seeing nothingness.

Thank you. I havent found a video that accurately represents the issues I have with my eyes. I showed this to my husband so he can understand.

i worked at a summer camp this past summer for visually impaired students, and it was so amazing to learn about how they've overcome their impairments. a few them of them were totally blind, but most had degenerative eye diseases, were half blind, or could only see light and shadow. during my training, we got to use glasses similar to the one you showed and they had us try and walk around and get our lunch and eat it with them on. it was incredibly hard and made me so much more grateful, and so much more in awe of those who have vision impairments

Thank you for showing these! As a Braillist who works with students that are blind I get asked this so much by other students. My district has a set of glasses like these and it makes explaining a lot easier!
