Google has changed the UI since then. You won't see "Your Places". But you will see "Saved". That will take you where you will see some tabs including "Maps". Clicking on the "Maps" tab will then take you to the area where you can "Create and manage maps in My Maps". Click on the link "Open My Maps". The rest of the instructions in the video stand true from this point on.

Actually, doesn't work for KMZ file with images included, those will show an error in Google Maps, only Google Earth accept those.

Great video! I have a question andI hope you can help me. I created a KML file in Google Earth Pro and this KML file has a bunch of overlay images. When I import the KML file in Google maps the overlay images wont show up. Would really appreciate if you can help me with this. Thank you in advance.

What if the file is more than 5MB, as GMaps rejecting files bigger than 5MB?
