This bean dip is amazing. I love it, my girlfriend loves it, our imaginary dog loves it. We've made it twice since this video came out and we binge ate it both times. We made a little compromise in our cheese choice: we only went with cheddar since we're on a budget - and the heat level was fine for us without the jalapeños. (Also skipped the cilantro since i hate the taste of soap in my food)

This is amazing warm, cook on the stove top till it’s hot with all ingredients except the green onions and cilantro which you mix in once ready to serve. This cold per Chef John works excellent if you want to elevate your layered dips.

This works with many varieties of canned beans too. I love it with black beans. I heat up the beans with seasoning and mash em, then follow everything else here.

Made this for the Super Bowl game today. I had to adjust everything down just a little because the refried beans here on Vancouver Island are only 14 ounces. Love the dip! I don’t share your addiction to Cayenne so didn’t add any. Thanks, John.

I've been making a dip very similar to this for decades but I bake it. I also use butter instead of oil.
