Can we just recognize that despite any justified calls for accountability and restitution on this matter to the EPA, that this shouldn't be treated with nearly the same levels of disdain we hold for other groups responsible for things like this?

At worst, they're guilty of ACCIDENTALLY releasing contaminants OTHER PEOPLE created, because of either unforeseen factors, or individuals not following established protocols designed to specifically prevent things like this.

It is uncalled for to be equating this to corporations who create contaminants as a byproduct of their operations, then either INTENTIONALLY release them into the environment in order to cut costs of proper disposal, or negligently allow them to be released because their standards are exceedingly low due to little or nonexistent oversight.

This should be an object lesson that the EPA needs more funding, so they can do their job better, and hold intentional or negligent polluters accountable for their actions as well.

The right is usually very short-sighted. We get rid of EPA- if we do, we should install an even more stringent organization. If not, then don't they think long-term, not having an agency will be far worse?
