Contrary to the thumbnail, Jackie Chan would be a Provisionist. He CAN understand the words that are coming out of your mouth. 😆

Dr. Flowers, You mentioned the Arminian view of prevenient grace (or the presupposition) as being baggage leftover from Calvinism. Is not eternal security baggage leftover from the Calvinistic view of unconditional election? This is a genuine question as I'm trying to understand Provisionism.

All three can be wrong, but they can't all be right. We'll know for sure soon enough.

I appreciate your brief description of Provisionism, Dr. Flowers. I have little experience with the Provisionist view, but it seems to me that it still fits firmly into a Classical Arminian view of soteriology. Even the English General Baptists spoke of "general provision." It seems like Provisionism might be considered another way of describing prevenient grace (grace that comes before). If a person holds to universal prevenient grace then all they're really saying, in a fundamental manner, is that man apart from God's grace is utterly dead and lost, but because of the work of Christ all man (i.e. whosoever will) are enabled to come. It doesn't necessarily have to mean that there is a partial regeneration (though I'm not afraid to call it that for lack of a better term). Is this not the case with Provisionism, that this grace is there from birth? If indeed, then it is by definition prevenient grace. Or, if this is not the case, the only other view I can think of that would come close is the "blank slate view" where every person born is starting off like Adam. I don't think that's what you're teaching, but maybe I'm wrong.

I take that basically God _knows_ how to save, and has _provided_ that salvation through Jesus.

As it is written:

Salvation is of the Lord! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Hello, my dear new friend. What are your thoughts on the doctrine of Perfection? I teach this doctrine, which is against faith alone doctrine. I believe in entire sanctification I lean more toward Pelagianism. Thanks for your response

Calvinism says that regeneration precedes faith. Arminianism says that regeneration follows after or simultaneously to faith. Provisionism, it appears, follows a different philosophy of regeneration?

I was once a Calvinist until I recognized that distinction. I consider myself more of a Molinist now. I would like to study Provisionism. Molinism isn't exactly a standalone soteriology, if it could even be considered a soteriological system.

Thank you for the helpful videos, Dr. Flowers!

What is it? The opposite of Calvinism. True!

So when God covered Adam and eve with coats of skin, probably blood was shed...a provision was made, when God said in Gen 3:15 that Christ would come ...it was a provision being made...
And when the angels stopped adam an eve to the tree of life that was a protection.

General revelation - prevenient grace - is biblical. Romans 1:18-20; 1:28-32, 2:14, Acts: 17-24 It explains why we have a conscience, consciousness, a sense of justice, and the ability to study ourselves and our environs. We can reject that - many do. That grace has been placed on our hearts as a pretext to the Gospel. GOD is always "pushing us" in HIS Providence to the narrow gate as we are in the wide path, here. Calvinism is rejecting this falls into determinism and the scientific determinism of materialists. Atheists can be moral people;however, they can never explain, retrodictively, from where their morality comes as society in the 20th century blew the "societal necessity argument" out of the water to use a Navy term. I think WLC's explanation on Molinism is also relevant. A believer can look back at his "coincidences" and see - they were not. HE is always pushing us to the narrow gate. I liken it to a giant railyard - we come in one way, can be pushed or choose sidings in the yard, but there is only one way out. GOD Bless
