MiG-31 Foxhound Edge Of Space Flight • Cockpit View

Video released by the Russian Ministry of Defense shows a MiG-31 edge of space flight from the cockpit of the jet.

The Mikoyan MiG-31 (Russian: Микоян МиГ-31; NATO reporting name: Foxhound) is a supersonic interceptor aircraft that was developed for use by the Soviet Air Forces. The aircraft was designed by the Mikoyan design bureau as a replacement for the earlier MiG-25 "Foxbat"; the MiG-31 is based on and shares design elements with the MiG-25.

The MiG-31 has the distinction of being among the fastest combat jets in the world.

It continues to be operated by the Russian Air Force and the Kazakhstan Air Force following the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The Russian Defence Ministry expects the MiG-31 to remain in service until 2030 or beyond and was confirmed in 2020 when an announcement was made to extend the service lifetime from 2,500 to 3,500 hours on the existing airframes.

As far as I know Mig 31 managed to reach the altitude of 123, 520 feet by test pilot Alexander Fedotov. That is 37.65 kilometers. That was impressive no matter what country you are from. By the way it took MiG 31 only 4 minutes to reach 123, 000 feet.

Folks be talking about 5th and 6th gen fighters like they are unkillable. Buddy... MiG-31 has an altitude record of ~38 Kilometres which was achieved in under 4 minutes all the while it was able to maintain super sonic speeds.

Even in the game "ace combat" this plane has the highest altitude capability. I am not sure about other planes, but I think it has 80% speed and altitude, 20% maneuverability. Interceptor in it's own right.
