Definitely didn't expect to see an incestuous activity in a YouTube video about VOC, what a way to end the year. Good work Mitsi Studio.

The reason why the Dutch could trade with the Japanese and not the Spanish was because the Spanish kept trying to turn Japan Christian and the Dutch promised not to… lol

I have a silver VOC coin. I handle it with gloves not because it's antique and fragile but because that thing surely has been scratched on so many person's back

I was not expecting a 50 second long reenactment of the Hapsburgs loving time tradition

There's more than one chapter in every year in Indonesian history lessons that discusses this trading company, from the history of its formation to its end. and yes, I'm impressed

Ah yes, VOC. The only european faction who realized bribing Southeast Asian kings is better than fighting them wholesale!

Can't begin to imagine the ingenuity of mankind to be able to sail across continents with sheets nails and wood and tar

Potato was introduced to Europe at roughly the same time. The Dutch came to Asia to -colonize- trade. They also introduced their culture there and that include the foods.

In Indonesia, potato is well known as ''kentang''. In Japan, it was called ''jaga imo'' back then, which means ''jaga 'bulbs''. Jaga maybe came from Jayakarta, nowadays the port city is well known as Jakarta.

So, in a nutshell, before the birth of internet, the world was connected by the potatoes.

While everyone knows about the British colonisation, it’s great to see the great success the Dutch had covered!

Fun fact about the Dodos: many people believe the Dutch hunted them to extinction because they liked they way they tasted. This is entirely false, the Dutch just needed food to survive and the only edible thing they could find were those Dodo Birds, hence the Dutch name ''Walgvogel'' which quite literally translates to ''Disgusting Bird''. Loving the videos Mitsy :D keep up the good work <3
