According to some studies, a whopping third of Americans believe in ghosts. So Laci Green decided it's time to look at the shaky science behind the paranormal. And what she finds might just explain away that bump in the night.

Are Ghosts Real? Science Says No-o-o-o
"If you believe in ghosts, you're not alone: A 2005 Gallup poll found that 37 percent of Americans believe in haunted houses, and about one-third believe in ghosts."

Ghosts are all in your mind
"When scientists wrote in a recent issue of the journal Nature that they could induce phantom effects — the sensation of being haunted by a shadowy figure — by stimulating the brain with electricity, it made perfect neurological sense."

Electrodes trigger out-of-body experience
"Stimulating brain region elicits illusion often attributed to the paranormal."

Is the brain hardwired for religion?
"As we learn more about what happens in the brain during a religious experience, is it possible that we'll ever be able to create them ourselves?"

Brain Chemicals That Cause Sleep Paralysis Discovered
"During the most dream-filled phase of sleep, our muscles become paralyzed, preventing the body from acting out what's going on in the brain."

Ask the Brains: What Is Sleep Paralysis?
"Attacks by demons, ghostly visitations and alien abductions: some people are certain they have experienced such paranormal events. In reality, many of these victims probably had an episode of sleep paralysis."

Great video, but she left out what I think is the best argument against ghosts: When people see them, the ghosts are always clothed. Did their clothes die with them?

Nobody knows, what happens when we die.
 It's a mystery.

I like to believe that within our universe, there are many dimensional planes. Each plane has its own timeline. Sometimes these planes rub together enough to peer into each other. Depending on how far they rub, the more/less you see/feel. For example, sometimes you'll hear a voice calling you, sometimes you'll hear a door slam, sometimes you'll see matter moved. When you see a ghost, the person in the other dimension sees you as a ghost. A few select dimensions do not have alternate dimensions to uphold them, such as ( looking at this as a Christian) Heaven or Hell. When you die, your consciousness and its energy is moved to one of these select dimensions, depending on the path you followed due to religious beliefs. Some select figures can control these dimensions, such as the Devil or God, and they guide your wandering cosmic energy to their dimension. Some can see through into other dimensions, viewing possible futures or pasts. These beings are Mediums, such as I. Feel free to take this however you like, but I likely won't answer. I hope I touched you in some way.

My house was actually built on top of one of the civil war battlegrounds.  I also live near a century old hospital (built before WWI) and there's also 2 graveyards surrounding it.  I've experienced many paranormal things in my residence such as spice containers in my cabinets being stacked to the ceiling for no apparent reason,   sounds of spurred boots walking in my cellar and roof, and I've also seen 3 manifestations of a confederate soldier appear in my bedroom, and a few others in the cellar.  I used to be athiest and skeptical about ghosts, but the truth is, there are just some things that science will never be able to explain, solve, or even discover.   There is a greater power beyond what mankind can ever be able to harness, and ghosts are a fine example of it.

I personally believe in ghosts due to my own personal experience. :)

What if with ghosts (and gods) were actually creatures that existed in higher dimensions or lived in multiple dimension at once and could somehow communicate and/or pass through the dimensions we exist in, and interact with things in this dimension.

I personally try my best to keep a open mind on things that haven't been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, allowing myself to consider their existence without trying to develop a bias one way or the other. I feel that ghosts, spirits, and such things, assuming such things exist, exist as beings of pure energy. If such a being were to exist, it would certainly be capable of doing all the things ghosts are said to do.

Science doesn't explain everything you know

Adults believe in ghosts like children believe in the easter bunny and Santa. It's actually quite funny. She just laid out some solid scientific explanations for why it doesn't add up logically and people still would rather believe in their fairy tales...

The only account of which I have a belief of ghosts is when multiple people observe the same thing. I can agree that the mind can do crazy things and I'm sure that some are hallucinations and to some that are extremely certain ghosts exists the hallucination can be easier to witness. But when multiple people hear an apparent knocking, walking, or otherwise unexplained phenomena in seems to point to supernatural. My point of view is that if there is a multiverse, it's simply one universe having some sort of collision with our own. Like waves crashing into another wave on the water. Although not all waves are crashing into each other there are still waves doing that in some position.

I don't know what is true.  The scientists of 100 years ago would be shocked at what we've learned about our world.  Will scientists of a century from now pity our ignorance on this subject, among others?

If every human being who's ever lived dies and becomes a ghost, then there must be billions and billions of ghosts wandering the Earth . . .

So how come I've never seen one?

I don't get why most people think scientists know everything its impossible to prove ghosts but its is also impossible to disprove it that is just the nature of them

Ghost stories are mostly lies, but not always. Even i experienced weird things when i worked in an old abandoned school. I don't saw any shadowy figure, only simple things like when the door opens itself and the feeling that someone is there, but the most spooky was my reflection in the glass, only my head was reflected and it (I) was staring at me with an emotionless face for at least 5 seconds before it disappeared and my full body was reflected again. At first i thought i hallucinate(in my entire time i hallucinate only once when i didn't sleep for 5 days), but i brought others with me later and they too experienced spooky things in that school.

I think ghost are real. When I was little I had an imaginary friend but turns out it was truly my grandmother who had just died a few years before. She physically handed me a bracelet.

A few nights ago while everybody else was asleep I heard a robotic baby cry. The first time I heard it I was like 'am I imagining that?' So I take off my headphones and I hear it again. I'm lying down, facing my wall so I just freeze and think 'well shit I'm going to die' eventually I tuned around and I saw nothing. It sounded like it came from my closet maybe, but defiantly my room. There is no rooms right next to mine, and my door was shut so it couldn't have came from the hallway without sounding distant and muffled. I searched my room the next day, and I found nothing that could make that sound. The sound sounded like a robotic baby that was broken. I was fully awake when it happened. :/
