You have a major parts of his story completely wrong though.. Yes he was paralyzed, However he spent a lot of his years able to leave the iron lung for hours at a time if not longer. He worked really hard told teach himself What was basically a new way of breathing and he made it much longer out of his iron lung then just a moment. He literally went to colleges, got at least three degrees, became an attorney, and actually ran his own successful Law Firm. In his later years he did spend all of his time in the Iron lung but his story shows us that no matter how Insurmountable the odds There's always a way to make it through each day. Paul didn't just make it through his awful circumstances, he thrived through them.

Not fully true. He has actually spent time outside of the machine. Not with his old age he can no longer be out of the iron lung. He is a cool dude. Became a lawyer, wrote a book and many other things.
