A few little commission tips from my experience:

1. List how many revisions you provide upfront. Any additional revisions is an increased fee.
2. Start with accepting only a few commissions at a time. Taking many projects at once can be overwhelming at the start.
3. Give your clients 24 hours minimum when giving them a draft to consider revisions. Even if they respond right away, it never fails that they message again a few hours later with another edit that needs to be made. Just give them some time to really look at it before you put work into finalizing a draft.

Best of luck out there, lovelies!

Something that helps so much that isnt talked about enough is how important it is to have friends in both the art community and your target audience. When you and your friends are constantly hyping eachother up and being positive it lets your potential buyers see that you actually are involved in the community and arent looking for a quick paycheck. My experience is a lil different as i primarily do nsfw comms but buyers, in my experience, do care if you seem like you actually care about the community or not

I’d say that “too high” is incredibly subjective. Especially depending on the country / cost of living where a creator is from. Not to mention the divided cost of materials used in order to create a piece of work. The only way I consider a commission being “too high” is if the artist is outside of my personal budget.

I agree with some of these philosophies, but artists shouldn’t focus on social media followings to get commissions nor have low expectations either because those create bad complexes. I’ve been getting $500+ commissions for years without any following or big industry experience, which is why I also teach how to get respectable commissions and wages

Yeah, but how do I get clients? How to I convince people to buy my art? Because I only have 6 followers on Instagram and waiting for someone to dm you asking for a commission won't work. You need to dm the people that likes your art or follows you because they've already shown interest in your art. How do I convince people to buy my art? How do I get clients? What should I say to them? Because only saying, "hey, do you wanna buy my art?" doesn't work at all.

I'm facing financial struggle right now, I have depression and that's affecting me in my professional career. I can't get a job but I do wanna work. I'm 21 and have zero money in my wallet.

And the only thing I know how to do is art.

But I'm struggling too much to get clients.

Could you help me with that?

i would also like to note that you can always reach out to friends and mentors who have done commissions and ask for their prices to see what you should charge and as well as, you can also price your commissions based of the tools being used
ex: using photoshop for digital art plus some custom brushes: $50 + $ (insert price of brushes)

even if the program being used was like $10, like mewtripled said: charge no less than $25
ALSO CHARGE FOR REVISIONS!!!
💗 have fun yall

If they want to commission u they will. Art is a luxury if u can’t afford it then u cant buy art, if someone really wants ur art they will save up for it.

I think my art is pretty decent (Good with anatomy, lines) but my lowest price is $35 and it takes me anywhere from 10-40 hours per piece.

I'm not getting many commissions because my prices are way too low for rather professional art but I'm in no way ready to charge more. Any tips for me?
