ELS Seismic Analysis Series (Part 1 of 3)

Earthquakes have a significant and dynamic effect on structures that simple pushover analysis does not consider. Different design codes require a dynamic analysis for the structures to properly consider the effect of earthquakes. In ELS earthquakes loads are simulated by applying its seismic acceleration components time-history in the x, y, and z three directions. To simulate the earthquake loads in ELS we the user can import text files with earthquake accelerations or use the function generator to simulate the earthquake’s acceleration in different directions.

Just based on this video, there doesn't seem too much difference on doing analysis by ELS (AEM modeling) than by FEM method for time-series analysis. So could anyone tell me the advantages by this method if there is one?
