Great review. However, for the price, you cant beat the value of the X7! I will stick to my X7.

I found out about 50 years a go that a leather rapped handle on most everything works for me gives me that good secure feel whether it's with a gloved or naked hand even my hand drills. Happy Trails

For $90 I'll take the original, and a good companion knife to go with it. 3 times the price for a wooden handle is ridiculous

Like the hickory handle and the better balance it gives but the price difference is hard to justify for an average user.

I think is a great upgrade for nature lovers, champing etc being more camo with the nature

I have almost the entire line of the original fiskars, they're great. No fuss, no muss, no worries of mistreating them. At the current price, I will steer clear of the new edition. Though it looks nice, there are plenty of wood handled hatchets and axes in my collection already. Great video, thanks.

Love it. Just the merger I was looking for.

Gorgeous. Love the combination of the old fashioned handle design combined with the modern head. It would be a great present to give to someone but I hear the price isn't budget which is one of the reasons why the original polymer handled version did so well

For 90 dollars, spend a bit more and go for a gran fors bruks or council tool

So, we went from $30 to $90 to obtain the same ax with a wood handle? No thank you.

I really like the hickory handle; great all purpose hatchet!

I'm leery of it just because there's no wood mushroomed through a standard eye so I'm wondering what sort of magic is going on in there so it doesn't just separate. I like my traditional axes but also have an x7 that I thinned and convexed and it performs really well.

My original fiskars is around 20 yrs old and has seen hard use. It’s sheath was the old snap in without the retention tab is now replaced with some old fire hose and a leather strap looking similar to their new sheaths design. My hatchet has literally saved lives and although I have a new one it’s hard not to carry it. I would like to try the N7 sometime just to see if it connects to my hand like the original. Thanks for the great review.

I have to ask: What is “recycled leather”? Is the sheath made from an old boot? An old football? An old wallet that’s now empty because you spent so much for the wood handle?

Can you do a video showing how you sharpen the axe

Love my Fiskars 36” Super Splitting Axe, 28” Splitting Axe, and my 14” Hatchet (the all black versions; w/o orange handles).

They. Are. Indestructible.

Been splitting wood by hand for my wood stove for the past three years using the Super Splitting Axe and boy howdy does it rip through oak. The hatchet and other axe are amazing for felling trees and limbing.

With that said, there’s something about wooden-handled axes. I have been eyeing Gränsfors Bruk axes for some time but can’t afford yet. This might fill that gap perfectly.

My X7 hasn't let me down so far. I like the classic look of the N7, but for now I can't see the 3 times price difference.

I just recently got two of the X series. One X5 to go on camping and motorcycle trips and one X10 to replace my grandfathers 150 year old in the motorhome. X series out of practicality.
I'm getting another in the N series for the look and feel of wood. That one for using around the house. I'm retiring my grandfathers axe, it's going up on a wall instead. Lots of sentimental value.

Look at that birch bark just waiting to be harvested! (0:50). Also, love Fiskars axes, great review.
