Here's how to know when your Magic Mouse 2 is charging:
1. Turn the mouse on (so the switch has the green color)
2. Open Bluetooth Settings on your Macbook and Connect the mouse to your Mac
3. Magic Mouse 2 will have status "connected, charging" in the Bluetooth Settings if its charging

This is also the reason why I always charge my mouse in "on" position.

Thank you so much for this amazing demo of this new style MOUSE. I have been trying for hours figure out the secret passageway to the batteries. No idea that I had a Magic Mouse 2. Why do they have to keep complicating things with the pretext that they will be easier to use... I would rather slide in the batteries and keep going. Now I have. to wait an hour to write when I was on a KICK! Not good for historians. I like the old mouse.

when magic mouse had exchangeable batteries you could just replace them and keep working, so apple though deeply, how could we make magic mouse worst? Oh! let's put an internal no exchangeable battery and put the charger straight down! no design compromises! and fu#$% our clients!, mean while apple employees use magnetic charging on the mouse pads...

Seriously guys, I was as mad as many as you are when I purchased the first one for my daughter a year ago. BUT ... It only needs to be charged for 2 minutes, YES, TWO MINUTES to give you hours of use. I would recommend charging it until it's full for the first charge, just like any device right, but my daughter charged her mouse for 10 minutes about 2 months ago and she edits and uploads a video for YouTube weekly.

Good old Apple! Form over function! Sure love not being able to use a device while it's charging. They did this before and were mocked, and rightfully so. But they didn't care so they keep doing it.

According to Apple, the Magic Mouse 2 shouldn't need to be recharged often, at least. A full charge takes about two hours and lasts two months. Two minutes of juice is enough for a full day as well. This is, of course, based on Apple's often optimistic battery life claims. Why did they not put that same system in there iphones ????

This is the only mouse I have. Is there anyway to tell if it’s charging? There is no green light or anything.

In 2023 the magic mouse 2 is still current. The charge method isn’t a design flaw, it wasn’t meant to be used plugged in and Apple made sure to prevent people from doing so. Besides it only needs to be charged once every few months or monthly if used constantly. Only problem is if the battery no longer holds a charge then you have a paperweight unless you change the battery. Still nothing beats a quality wired mouse for reliability and response time.
