Just a couple creative house styles:
Colonial, prairie, ranch, tudor (one of my favorites), mediterranean, contemporary, cottage, cabin, rowhouse, greek Revival, french country, antebellum, saltbox, queen ane, italianate, eastlake (another favorite), romanesque Revival and gothic revival (pretty fun to build).

Alaska, I would love to see a pre - school, grocery store, arcade parla, shopping mall in your new town or just on a plot on its own :) but mostly I would LOVE to see you build an arcade parla and a bowling alley! Keep up with your hard work Alaska!!

Day 2 giving some suggestions on the town,
1. I think a grocery store or convenience store is perfect (small or big, any kind of size)
2. I would say a museum could be nice too!
3. Last but not least, a library is nice too.
