3 years later now in 2020, I revisit and edit this description as I load to my new bestiary diary site and I can see how important this moment in 2017 was.

On this day I was working away (or trying to focus in order to) and I could hear loud cawing. At first I thought it was the game of thrones that I had playing in the background. Then I thought hang on, as I looked out the bedroom window, there was a pair of crows or ravens (at the time I wasn’t sure which). I thought it was my usual duo that followed me in these suburbs I used to live in, but they were slightly different.

They would have been at least 50cm in length & when I said hello, they stopped cawing and watched me intently. At first I thought maybe they were younglings because of the grey hoods but now years later I realise they were hooded crows. That in itself was bizarre due to hooded crows not being a regular sighting were I am in Melbourne Victoria. It meant and still means allot to me.

They were a smaller version of the raven that I predominantly associated to Odin or Wotan (his eyes and ears who have followed me all my life from a babe from country to country, place to place) He is an ancestral spirit of my race who I have always loved and have seen as the witty wandering old man with long white hair and as my true dad.

24 hours prior to this recording I was in some distress for I had been told my home was to be vacated so the landlord corn turn the place into short stays bed and breakfast (I really hate money obsessed and greedy people, they make me sick)

That night was the full moon of Samhuinn, which is a season of death for new to follow, changes, darkness and learning’s. I had a need to lean on mother Freya and father Odin to draw on strength and to seek guidance or clarity, especially on my options, being both disabled, with no savings/cash and with no physical help, yet alone knowing where I could go.

That night I dedicated the full moon to Freya with a silver candle spell and an incense burn along with my full moon hair cut that I do every month. When I filmed the full moon I was showed by Freya a shooting star that came up and dropped in the direction of south. I felt it was the mother Freya telling me to look and move further south. Then today I felt Odin’s watch with these two.

In hindsight now as a priestess of the Morrigan I realized that these two were actually from her. In my path the Morrigan has shown she to be the darker aspect of Freya or is that the other way around. I treat them as different but feel them as one in the same. The hooded crow is sacred to one of the Morrigan aspects and I still received further assistance from both Freya and Odin to be where I am now. Odin even physically appeared, disappeared and reappeared a few times in my journey to find and secure were I’m living now 3 years later...

Recorded in the tide of Winters Samhuinn, Southern Hemisphere early May

Samhuinn is Gaelic for summers end, marking both the beginning of Winter/Eve and New year/Eve in the tradition of the collective groups of ethnic Celtic/Gaelic/Britonnic peoples. Beyond astrological markings that noted seasonal changes to those that studied the sky, it was also an ethnic tradition of Celtic tribes to recognise that the year was split into two, the light and the dark halves of the year. Samhuinn (the summers end) and Bealtainne (the summers beginning) are two major doorways to connection of the spirits and ancestors of our European race, both also being Fire festivals.

Samhuinn also marks the last harvest of the year before our ancestral crone or winter mother claims the land until Spring, where she dies into the earth and is reborn a maiden Gottess from the earth womb or cauldron. Celebrating and recognising the tide of winter’s arrival and the last harvest in the European ancestor veneration/spirits, in the wheel of the year...
