Is the Rock Pi 4B+ Better than the Raspberry Pi 4? The Rock Pi 4B+ is a single board computer made by Radxa with the RK3399 CPU. The new 4B+ Model comes with a preinstalled 32GB eMMC, that is preinstalled with TwisterOS! The Rock Pi 4 is full of amazing features, and is definitely strong competition for the Raspberry Pi 4!

What do you think about the Rock Pi 4B+?

Do you purchase a nvme m.2 2280, 2242 or 2230 card in order to get the fastest boot and storage solution for this setup vs the onboard emmc or micro sd card or usb flash/ssd storage alternatives?

I like how it has m.2 but I don't like it's right next to the processor seems you need active cooling. Case compatibility is going to suck due to that.

the c model board comes with input mic, which is great for audio projects. Dont know if this one comes too

That hexa core processor with cores running at different frequencies is not odd at all, that’s similar to how most smartphone processors work, they have 1 or 2 cores running at high frequency, and others at a bit lower to keep overall temperature in check

Also, do you mind trying to overclock it as much as possible and see the performance difference between the default and overclocked rock pi?

does the wifi work on your 4b plus. mine only works on ubuntu for 30mins then stops working. debian doesn't work at all with wifi. armbian image doesn't even boot.

Interesting work. Any chance of a video on bootloader and spi? Got myself a rock pi4c and can't make it boot from nvme. P.S I'm a noob

@LukesTechHD
did you disable the SPI flash to boot armbian images with MBR?

my 4b+ only boots with radxa images! 🤨

Technically, the Rock Pi 4 A, Pi 4 B, Pi 4 B Plus and Pi 4 C models are very similar.
The Pi 4 A, B and C has the eMMC on an additional board. The Pi 4 B Plus has the eMMC firmly soldered on.
The 4 Plus with different eMMC sizes. The additional eMMC boards are also available in different sizes.
The Pi 4 A lacks WIFI. The others have it.
The Pi 4 C has two mini monitor connections. Models A and B have one full size HDMI port.
There were models with 1, 2 and 4 GB.
The CPU of the Pi 4 C is slightly shifted, therefore a different heat sink than A and B.
It is optionally available with an on-board WiFi antenna or WiFi plug.
The RTC is built in, only the button cell is required.
USB C PD is required as a power supply unit: 9V 3A, 12V 3A. Built-in stepdown to 5 volts and 3.3 volts.
The Raspberry PI 4 B uses the 5V 3A directly, which may not be enough.

Do you have any plans to post some benchmark how fast it can run games via DOSBox?

What is that performance monitor background in the upper right corner of your twisteros background.

Hello there! I just got the Rock 4se and I found the Radxa repositories for their Debian not very great. I was wondering if TwisterOS had Helena etcher accessible to download and use so I could switch my boot to my emmc module without having to buy that pesky dongle. That being said, thanks for the video!

I have the 8gb Pi in an Argon One M.2 using the Raspberry OS which more than suits my needs. It costed about £100 without my SATA M.2. I've never used a Rock so I can't compare, but I do like what I have.

The amazon listing is only a 4GB ram configuration, no 8GB option that i can see. Is 4GB all you really need?

Do a gaming comparison testing between this and a pi4. Try games like Minecraft and N64 performance, see if there's any improvements from the pi.

I see from your Conky you can also use it to bake bread!
Perhaps with good cooling video playback would have been better?

How would you use the ssd connector and cool the processor at the same time?

Thank you for slowing down in speech! - No I can also understand what your talking about :-)
Your doing a good work!
I did tryout that KDE on my RPI CM4 8GB memory and SSD, but, no, away to slow performance no matter what.
So I stuck with my main PC and going to play with linux and Virt-Manager, there I can run aarch64 also ;)

I'd actually wish to see how to choose the booting OS at startup
