The F4u Corsair, the P-38 Lightning and the P-47 Thunderbolt are my favorites. The Corsair was the best fighter in WW2.

P 38 is the second one on my list of 10. Number one is The A 10 that is one beautiful airplane.

Will always be a masterpiece and at its initial release basically outperformed everything, also flown by one of the US’s best pilots Richard Bong an Ace of 40 though the real number is higher considering his superiors knew he was letting the men under him finish off aircraft he had damaged. Sadly he was lost too young during a test flight of a new plane where he chose not to eject and instead getting the plane away from populated areas but not leaving himself enough time to eject. A truly selfless man
