Pandemic Pivot: More women shifting careers to skilled trades work

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sectors that employ a lot of women has forced many to reinvent themselves. More women are turning to the skilled trades, which have traditionally been seen as a "boys club."

The shift is as timely as ever - Canada faced a skilled trades shortage pre-pandemic, and an estimated 700,000 skilled tradespeople are expected to retire within the next seven years, according to a recent report by RBC. That means even more workers will be needed in these fields.

The reason why we’re in this shortage is due to a lack of educators and a stigma against trades people in general. I can’t begin to tell you all the insults I’ve heard towards myself and co-workers over the course my career.

Social scientist in Scandinavia have already done the studies, this is very well documented: the more egalitarian a country becomes, the larger the differences in career choices manifest.
You can even measure this in babies: boys will hold their gaze longer on things, and girls will hold their gaze longer on people.
Listen to science, not 'the science'

Keep in mind, the social scientist that took part in these studies were largely left leaning, because hardly no social scientists are on the right spectrum.

The data is clear. You can't force people to do something they don't want to do.

Everyone is pointing out the lack of PPE... Yeah not exactly a good look for women in trades. As a woman, you gotta prove yourself competent and then you gotta excel at it since it's stereotyped as male. Also she should care about her safety better. It's sad how all msm sounds exactly the same as each other. There was a time where it was a worthwhile endeavour to listen to different stations for their competing POV but all that is lost and manufactured consent is the msm only goal.
