WTI Participates in Live Fire Exercise at Sea on USS Shoup

A joint Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division training and data analytics team supported the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup (DDG 86) while underway in the Pacific Ocean for a Live Fire With a Purpose exercise Sept. 18, 2022.
Warfare Tactics Instructor Lt. John Gwen is on assignment and supporting the data collection teams during the scheduled events. Gwen was trained and designated as a WTI under SMWDC and is now able to provide expertise to the Fleet.
USS Shoup successfully fired an SM2 missile at an airborne target for the event. This is a recap with interviews and footage from the exercise.
