The gods can in part be seen as segments of Kratos' own psyche (with Kratos as Ego). Poseidon and his ocean domain would be the equivalent of the personal subconscious, with the sea god himself reflecting who Kratos is at heart (when not drowning in pain). His water horse is called Hippocampi btw (yes, as in those brain areas). Nearly all of Kratos' memories regarding the gods are highly negative ones, be it about his brother or his slain family. Poseidon cared just as much about Atlantis as Kratos did for Sparta, and neither took kindly to the destruction of either. In a sense, one could say the Atlantis incident was foreshadowing the fate of Sparta (and Greece in general). Ultimately, Poseidon's rage was externalized. Hades on the other hand embodied both his deeper Collective Subconscious and the part of him that was chockfull of shame and hatred (on top of sadism and combat instinct). Unlike the former, he represented internalized pain. It's no coincidence that he became possessed by Hate itself, as this emotion is an expression of emotional pain. Expose someone to anger long enough, and they will learn to hate. His ironic fate at the hands of the godslayer further hints at this. He reflects the deepest Shadows of Kratos, the pain that laid his foundation. Kratos is hated because he killed his wife, mirroring how Kratos hates himself for butchering his own in blind rage. Also, death is a timeless symbol of change (with one's soul being the deepest part of oneself). The Furies kept him trapped in old habits and delusions, while the Sisters of Fate was him trying to reconcile his past with his present (to build a future upon). Or taking responsibility for his past in order to move on, if you prefer. Zeus and Olympus represented his Higher Self and Enlightenment, whereas Pandora and Athena reflected his Inner Child and Anima respectively. When not toxic, women have a humanizing effect on men, so removing positive femininity from life is outright dangerous. We'll only restrain our penchant for violence as long as there's something to gain from from it. So don't taunt the bear. And at least two of the titans would correspond to the external frames we exist within. Chronos is Time, Gaia is Life. Life will sometimes betray you, but you can't let the past haunt you forever. Or waste time on escapism/distractions (like Hermes did). Work (Hephaestus) and pleasure (Aphrodite) can both devolve into mere addictions, though only one will destroy your body. Either way, his attainment of godhood was a metaphor for his enlightenment. Finally, by passing on Hope to mankind, he gave the mortals the influence they needed to change Greece for the better.

I love how Poseidon is the only God except Zeus to really put up a good fight against Kratos even though he was only the first boss of 3. In Greek lore he is only weaker than Zeus himself so killing him first with that knowledge really puts into perspective how insanely strong Kratos is at that point.

Poseidon was heavily underrated in this, I wish we got a proper 1v1 with possibly the best god and second in command after zeus

People tend to forget Poseidon is literally the second best god in greece, he is the second in command after zeus and he is of the big three, which is zeus, Poseidon and hades. These three are basically in a whole other level

As if the instruments alone weren’t badass enough to showcase of what Poseidon is, the choir and its savage lyrics makes it even more godly as F lol

"Save them from the burial" catched my eye. "The burial of the gods/olympus" is a common lyric in the GoW 3 ost, and this one kinda confirms what i always thought, that Poseidon saw the grave danger of Kratos, who btw just announced that he is Zeus son, and wanted to save Olympus from him specifically.

In his GoW 3 notes he also remarks to his "lover" that Olympus is approaching a great storm and Zeus offers no protection.
