I have new animating program :D this was made mostly to learn how csp works and experiment with all the new brushes!
I'm really happy with the final effect and it was lots of fun to work on so yay

Wings of Fire is a book series about dragons and their adventures written by Tui T. Sutherland. In this video I show you a small animatic I made about two (2) characters from it, Albatross and Fathom and their dark and sad story told in the book "Darkstalker (Legends)". What happened to Albatross is actually really sad. He never meant to become evil. But that power just ate him up to the point where he wasn't Fathom's grandfather anymore.

God I love this. The sketchy, crayon-like style really fits the vibe, and I love you can tell who is who. I specifically love the contrast in character design. Albatross is incredibly skinny, thin, has a narrow snout, and his eyes look mildly disturbing. Also, he has little fangs. Fathom, by contrast, is very round, soft, and cute looking! A very good PMV, your content never ceases to amaze me :)

I think this is one of the most underrated moments in Darkstalker Legends. Sure, when we think of the ending and Foeslayer’s “death” to be the saddest parts to this story, but the most painful part to me at least was when Albatross was having his lessons with Fathom. We already know about the Seawing Massacre, but seeing the way Albatross was around Fathom, his own grandson, is like Tui saying “ah yes we gon have a game changer in here :)”. Looking back at how things could’ve been for the two of them is one of the most depressing parts of this series in my opinion. But, of course, Albatross eventually gets irritated with Fathom, even if he didn’t show it and it wasn’t Fathom individually that messed with him.



Also can we just address Fathom’s mother for a moment? Manta. In all of the chaos of the massacre in action (even if some might think she was just dumb enough to do it) she tried to get her dad to snap out of it. Still HOPED that he was just angry and she could calm him down. But in the end, she was killed. Albatross killed her. His own daughter. Sure, he killed his own sister, but that was out of anger of all the things she did to him over the years. She deserved to die. Manta was innocent, and from what I could gather they had a good relationship. So yeah. That detail also stuck out to me :)

Poor little Fathom. He looked up to Albatross so much and adored and loved him with all of his precious heart. When Albatross killed all of Fathoms friends and family (and Fathom had to kill HIM) it must have been hard for the little green dude. Let’s get some sympathy in the chat for him.

I like to think Albatross genuinely loved Fathom as his little nephew, but he lost himself to his magic/came to hate Fathom out of his own fears and constant harassment from his sister and his past.
AU where Albatross gets help and has a good support system when? I can't handle sad endings sometimes 😩

Oh my goodness, this is just perfect. Fathom wanted to be just like Albatross. (I'm gonna be just like you)
Fathom wanted to use his power himself. (No matter what you say I can do)
But then, Albatross used his power to kill. Poor Albatross, it wasn't his fault 💔
Fathom was scared, he never thought this would happen, and got traumatized. Poor Fathom. 💔
And so, Fathom used his power to kill Albatross, being "just like him".

I love the style, from the beginning, (a soft, happy feeling) to the end (an unsettling and bloody feeling)
I know this animation is 2 years, but I love it so much! new sub!
