Thank you again for organising the meet up! Those folio editions are lovely, there is nothing more satisfying than finding something you want second hand 😊

We were in America's largest bookstore last week and I stumbled on a truly gorgeous Folio edition of Pickwick Papers, satisfyingly hefty and abundantly illustrated, the words "Poverty & oysters always seem to go together" inscribed in silver on the front cover. We already have five or six copies of Pickwick but I was sorely tempted to get it.

I also managed to pick up a copy of The Warden that day which I’m so pleased about because I’ve wanted to read some Anthony Trollope for the longest time. Such a wonderful day - thank you again for organising it! And thanks for the podcast recommendation!

That looks like it was a fun day! Sad to hear that the Ghost short story collection was disappointing.

Amor Towles, all of his books are brilliant. There's an evocative Christmas present scene in 'A Gentleman in Moscow' which I need to re-read nearer the season.

I am so jealous of that Margaret Oliphant book also I must read some Japanese literature, I've read a bit of Manga recently and enjoyed that, so I must branch out. As far as horror books go I read IT recently, I wish I had read it when I was a teenager, because I would have been terrified by it then, but it just doesn't hit the same way as an adult. If you want a spooky recommendation 'The Loney' by Andrew Michael Hurley is good. My boyfriend who doesn't even usually read books recommended it to me, its a good spooky autumnal classic.

I went online to see if I could find the Open Door as it was fairly recent and there it was - in a shop here in Norway - so I ordered it - should arrive within the week!! Thanks.
