How to S Rank Ribby and Croaks | Cuphead

Clip Joint Calamity is surprisingly tough for an Isle 1 boss, and one of the first bosses of expert mode where you start seeing some significant changes. Still, he's one of my favourite cuphead bosses in the entire game because of the music, the design, and just how fun it is.

If you can't figure out how to get an s rank on these frogs, just watch away. I explain the best way to deal with all three dreaded slot machine phases without taking a hit.

To be fair I found bulls the easiest the best way to do bulls is actually to stay at the back and jump or don't jump easy

Good guide! I just have a few more tips to add.

When the left frog throws punches during the fan phase, the first punch is always at the bottom, so you have to jump. I was so used to ducking all the time from the first phase, that I messed this part up a lot.

Instead of using your special right away, save it until the right frog is about the swallow the left frog. This way they'll have less HP during the slot machine phase, and you have less randomness to deal with.

During the bull phase, I found it easiest to duck until you have to jump, and then jump on top of the red chip and just hold down. If the next flame is down, you are already high enough to make the jump onto the next chip. If the next flame is up, then just keep holding down and eventually you will just fall off.

One thing that I've noticed that in the last phase it is generally takes two attacks and one super to get rid of him. So what I did is I kept my super gained from the second phase and I waited for him to spawn those tiger bastards. When the distance between those platforms (or whatever they are) got too small I used my super to be temporarily invincible (super I), which helped me through the toughest part of the attack. And the rest is more or less fine. Raging bulls are easy to dodge if you stay on the far left side of a screen, and snakes are okay, you'll get the rhythm eventually.
If you get the tigers in the third attack, you may just use your super right in the beginning - the boss will most likely die instantly. If you get tigers two times then I suggest retrying :)

In phase 2, sometimes both the fists and the fan happen at the same time and you have to maneuver perfectly to not get it. You have to jump of the first fist and immediately duck (or parry if you can). And the fan messes you up because when your in midair or squatting down, the fan pushes you to the left toward Ribby. This fight is hard. And then those coins on phase 3 my god.

And in my opinion, the orange ball platforms are the hardest for me. They start to move so fast and they get so close together. I had to purposely save my super and use invincibility to get through.

This was one of the top two hardest bosses to S rank for me. It took hours to pull off.

I always found bulls in the slots the easiest one.
Just stay in the left corner and only jump when you need to.
You don't even need to move during that phrase.

For some reason I could s rank cagney carnation, and hilda berg in 2 to 3 days. This boss took 5 WEEKS FOR ME TO S RANK. WHY WAS THIS SO HARD!!!

If you have difficulties with bull, here's a tip you can try for Expert mode:

First, you have to find out if the fire will go up or down. (There are many variations, so stick with me.)

If the fire goes up, don't jump and just crouch. If it goes up twice, just stay crouched. If the next fire goes down, jump ON (NOT OVER) the platform.

If the fire goes down. Jump ON the platform. If it happens twice in a row, jump from platform to platform. If the fire then goes up, just let the camera push you down (don't walk) and just focus on crouching again.

Remember, it won't be the exact patterns I just mentioned. These are just the different variations that could occur. Hope this helps. Have fun.

Thanks bro! Been stuck on them for a day now but I’ll use your strategy. I just wonder if I should swap my two opportunities to fuck up with twin hearts for the auto parry. Problem is with twin hearts I cannot finish the boss fast enough for S rank

I used charger for S rank, the third phase was absolute hell. Trying to make sure it was fully charged, aim it the right way, and dodge all the super fast platforms coming at the same time during the third phase literally felt like my brain was about to malfunction.
