I am still carrying around my everyday camera the Nikon v1 with a couple lens. I stayed away from the PEN and similar due to lack of EVF a must for myself. I love the small the bodies and lens cameras. I have the old school big cameras and use them when I am doing "serous" photography but I like a camera I can carry with interchange lens bodies

Was a big fan of DSCRX10 first version, but the new Mark III is so much better. More reach, better detail than P900 though not as much reach but more than enough for wildlife. This is my new all in one go to road camera. I know it will be for quite a few years. Love Sony's bridge cameras. More than their A7 series.

If you had to choose only one camera.... Which one would you choose?

Was that a mistake? The rx1R ii should have 42 MP sensor, but you sair 36mp sensor?

That 300mm F4 (600mm F4 equivalent) is only equivalent to F4 on full frame in terms of the amount of light coming in, when it comes to DOF, due to the smaller sensor 4/3rds it's probably closer to F8.

How would you rate 2016 gear vs. 2015 gear? How much better are things getting?

All that cameras are amazing, but I just keep the small Sony camera and the Leica SL with the 90-280 lens... Great review

m4/3 undoubtedly produces great photos, has great lenses and a small form factor. However, if you pixel peep just a bit, or are concerned about battery life, I just feel it's time to go to another system altogether.. It's probably battery life that matters more to me than IQ strangely..

Oly lacks firmware update compared to FUJI :)

RX1Rii is 42mp. same sensor and focus as the A7Rii isn't it?

Thanks Steve.
A friend refers to the Leica SL as Mick Jagger, it`s so ugly it`s beautiful

I also love quality cameras. My budget is the only thing that keeps me from having as many as you do :)

For me the Leica is an unapologetically boring camera. I was a Leica fan for so long, especially of the beautiful, sleek, and perfectly constructed rangefinders. But this behemoth just flies in the face of all of that. It's enormous. Built to a high standard, yes, but just an inelegant bulky block.

So, you can buy that camera and lens combination OR 2 MF Pentax 645z cameras, or 1 645z, 1 a7r ii, and 1 a7s ii. In this day and age, that's pretty absurd, along the lines of the Zeiss Otus line of lenses. Brilliant, but relegated the sidelines out of sheer impracticality.

300mm F4 m4/3s is not equivalent to full frame 600mm F4 in depth of field or in light gathering or in any other way. S.H. is either misinformed or deliberately misleading people to sell cameras.
F-stop is the ratio of the lens's focal length to the diameter of the entrance pupil (aka the aperture). A 300mm F4 lens has an effective aperture of 75mm. A 600mm F4 lens has an effective aperture of 150mm. There is quadruple the light coming through a 600mm F4 lens as a 300mm F4.
Consider: The iphone 6 has an F2.2 lens. Is that tiny lens gathering as much light as a m4/3's F2.2 lens or a full frame F2.2 lens?
