this guy is so good at presenting bikes, very confident, very informative, funny as well, and all in all a good reporter.

My dad had an old Rock Hopper from the 80’s and he rode that thing since before I was born until he finally retired it in like 2014? He used to commute with it for awhile with not many issues and I rode it on occasion too and enjoyed it, Solid bike.

"Sometimes it's a squirrel"!!! Slipped that one in and didn't bat an eyelid! Great video, loads of information. I have this bike in the 2005 model and I love it.

First review I have seen that wasn't condescending towards the bike or the consumers who are on budgets.

Super pleased with my 2017 rock hopper 29. Amazing performance, but I'm replacing that suntour with a rockshox recon. Everything else is perfect for trail riding, and jumps here and there.

I had a 2011 rockhopper and it was the best bike I ever had. Then some POS stole it in 2014. I still miss that bike every day.

I had an 08 rockhopper disc and now i have a 2014 rockhopper comp. the 08 rockhopper was great. On the 2014, half the drivetrain got destroyed in 4 trail rides. The x5 rear derailleur and sunrace cassette are crap. If you get a rockhopper these days, make sure it comes with a shimano drivetrain. Only the higher end SRAM stuff is decent.

I have a question for the Specialized engineers. Are the spokes and the rims the same materials and thickness as the 650b bikes? I ask this because I am thinking of the lateral loads that a 29er can take and that it can possibly break it. You and I know as engineers that when it comes to materials, if you elongate any cylindrical type of shapes you better give it a thicker diameter as well if not we know buckling will happen.

So did you guys engineer the 29ers around this type of stress analysis or no?

I've actually had a possum run straight at me headed for the brush but squirrels not so much... Still I'm a 29er fan all the way.

The possum caught a piece of my back tire but it survived.
