Nearly a decade after the 2011 Kia Optima paved the way for one of the auto industry’s most significant growth and achievement stories, Kia Motors America (KMA) is resetting expectations once again with the reveal of the all-new K5 mid-size sedan. Representing one of the biggest leaps forward between generations in recent automotive history, the K5 celebrates this bold new chapter in Kia’s story with an equally bold name to emphasize the mid-size sedan’s revolutionary design, all-new safety and performance enhanced “N3” platform, turbocharged engines, available all-wheel drive, and high-impact technology. In other words, Kia’s “Give It Everything” philosophy in the U.S. is evident and “alive” in this new machine.

– Powerful and bold appearance incorporates Stinger design DNA while expanding Kia’s future design language
– All-new N3 platform is stronger while being longer, wider and lower
– New all-turbocharged engine lineup delivers improved efficiency and higher horsepower; including a new 2.5-liter that produces 290 horsepower and best-in-class available torque
– New standard 8-speed automatic transmission
– Segment exclusive available 8-speed “wet” dual-clutch transmission
– New all-wheel drive option available with 1.6T engine delivers peace of mind with improved stability and capability
– Proudly assembled in West Point, Georgia alongside the award-winning Telluride SUV

2021 KIA K5 GT
2.5-liter turbocharged GDI + MPI four-cylinder engine making 290 horsepower and 311 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with the new 8-speed “wet” Dual Clutch Transmission (GT) goes 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds

A lot of people still say that Genisis, Hyundai, Kia are crap because they are normally cheaper than the rest of the market, and you get what you pay for.
However, You have to realize the reason why the Korean car manufacturer can keep costs so low.
Quite literally, they own the steel and aluminum plants that manufacture the chassis for the car. Then they stamp and assemble with parts they build (Hyundai is one of the biggest car parts manufacturers in the world.) Then they test it out on private roads and tracks that they built and they own. Then they ship it in ships that they build (Hyundai is one of the biggest shipbuilders in the world). For the US market, they built numerous plants in the US and in other native markets to keep prices even lower. They partner with other Korean brands such as Samsung (which supplies the tech and speakers for the cars. Samsung owns the brand Harmon) and LG for batteries etc. All of this just keeps prices so low because they can minimize outsourcing which is actually a very expensive component when it comes to manufacturing.

Time to update the KIA badge. Looks really outdated. If I were to buy one of their cars, I'd black out or debadge the car.

Where’s my ambient lighting, dial gear selector, digital gauge cluster?

Korean model is beautiful and doesn’t look like the GT model is gonna have any of that.

Give us the Korean model Kia!!

Still waiting for one of these to actually pop up. Right now the line and the original make about 170 hp- the same as my Accord. From 2007.

Kia’s hot version of a Charger...
The only thing missing for me is the digital gauge cluster.

That shifter is hideous, every car they make needs to features the Stinger GT2 style shifter. Other than the the car is gorgeous, I’m even getting used to the deck lid.
