Much love. Thanks 4 da love. We loved the Garage NYC. My wife is a singer, (Arlene) and actually had Jocelyn Brown do her back vocals. We were all part of the NYC 80s dance club era. Roseland, Bonds, Bentleys, Dancenteria, Limelight, Fun House, Roxys, Studio54 and the Garage.

A beautiful young girl from Brownsville Brooklyn and her friend Melvin took me to the garage in 1980 I will always be a B- boy but I lost my mind when I truly heard music the way it should be played

Arthur Baker was right when he said, Larry was If you weren't dancing, Larry had you listening. You had to listen to see where this trip Larry was taking you on was going. He showed us we can be individuals, but still could come together as one with the music. On the dancefloor of the PG we were as one. To me that was Larry Levan's greatest achievement... Oh by the way, Larry could make you dance.... He was always watching....

For 5-6 years, I worked at The Paradise Garage's (sister) record store; VINYLMANIA Records. We had a definite bond, w. Larry. Many of his key "Classic" songs, were released on VINYLMANIA Records' record label; "Man Friday", "Fascination", etc., etc.. I found Larry to be very shy, humble. Even, at times, demure?!
Out of the, many, times, that Larry would come to VINYLMANIA Records, to (record) shop, hang out, socialize.
His last time in; right b4 he passed away..
For some, odd, reason, a photographer; that was, also, just, shopping then.
He captured Larry's, Entire, visit, via. celluloid!
No one asked him to do that.
Nor, was he asked to stop,
Still, I kinda' treasure those photos now; of the entire staff, w. Larry.
Last, I'd like to comment, on other DJs, that throw Paradise Garage-themed events, etc..
"Why must they, only, ALWAYS, play the same fifteen Larry/ Garage Classic songs"?! SO annoying. Especially, considering, that Larry had, literally, "Hundreds", of Paradise Garage Classic songs, that he'd play. Many, are not seen, as typical P. Garage styles/ sounds/ etc..
Perfect example: "Fascinated" by COMPANY B., was def. a Garage Classic song.
Yet, no one ever plays it, & in 'that' context?!!
As, a matter of fact, I'm 99% sure that their music video was shot @ the Garage? :D
