In Part 7 I make up some grooving/parting tools for the shaper so i can put a clearance groove into the root of the Vee. Unfortunately I lost some of the video due to a hard drive issue and an automatic update... GRRRR. So I apologize in advance for the missing bits. however there is still enough information that you should be able to make your own.

The rigidity of the Churchill comes into its own on the slotting cuts, oops moments happen to us all. Hope the shop shuffle goes smooth so you can get back to your visit block project. All the best mat

Would some cutting oil have prevented that? I haven't ever tried to do a deep narrow groove on a shaper but I am thinking it is similar to parting on the lathe.

great work! how degree has your cutting tool?
i have a 650mm hydraulic shaper and the slot/parting cut are very difficult ( i'm new to the shaper)
my last work was cut a 2mm groove 15mm deep on steel, the tool geometry was similar to a hss lathe parting tool 6 degree positive on the top what degree angle do you think is better to do this work?
