This mayor is a short sighted fool. Total NIMBY. Floral Park wouldn't exist had it not been for the LIRR. He should be glad there wasn't some farmer 100 years ago singing the same song...he wouldn't have a village or a job.

I wonder if tunneling the whole section was ever on the table. It’s all sand. The sand could have been used on our eroding beaches if possible. The existing surface rails could be used for freight or even a green belt complete with bike trails. The amount of money on a yearly basis stolen from this region and spent elsewhere in this country is disgraceful. It’s about time NY stopped getting the shaft. The federal government just sucks money from this region and it has to stop.
