Guys I got confused too so I’m gonna leave this comment to help; Khan academy always makes things look more difficult that not is, just forget the whole 8x20 and 8x3 nonsense and instead just do
8-85/13 and that still gets you the same answer of 19/13

where did he get 80 and 24 at 1:23 ? so

I loved the way you explained it. But there is a simpler way to do it with the equation y-y1=m(x-x1) i will use the example you gave. m=17/13 and y1=8 and x1=5. Inputting those would be y-8=17/13(x-5) and you would solve it like a regular equation and end up with y=17/13x+19/13 :) just a tip.

He got 104 when he was converting 8 into an improper fraction in order to solve 8 - 85/13.
8 x 13 =104.
104/13 - 85/13 = b and so on and so forth...

This helped but Im wondering if for explanation purposes, would it be easier for people to understand, if you used numbers that are easier for people to work with, instead of these ridiculous fractions
