In communism chinese grew up learning, relations of production needs to adapt to the current productivity. The invention of steam engine lead us to capitalism from feudalism. According to that theory, after capitalism it's socialism then communism. The advancement of ai perfectly made up to the flaws of past communism attempts: lack of incentives destroyed productivity.

Interesting takes. Would Asian Boss conduct similar interviews in other Asian countries to see what the temperature is about AI? I would also be curious to hear the point of view of 40+ people. Are they as quick to embrace it? Do they share the same concerns? Thanks!

I think with AI, it's fine to use it as a tool to assist with more repetitive tasks. But the problem comes when AI is used instead of a person as that'd be taking away their job. I think that's 1 big thing people are worrid about.

You should fear those who program the AI rather than AI itself for now...

Every single person reading this should read E.M Forster's short story "'The Machine Stops" written more than a 100 yrs ago. Scary how accurate he was in this story, where the entire human race depends on a machine that becomes so omnipotent because it does everything for us, including breathing .
And one day it stops working and the entire human race dies, because we were forgot to do anything on our own !!

She works as a professional translator and isn't worried about AI? Sweet heart, you won't have a job in 5 years (or less).

If you need AI to help you to think for you, you will eventually lose that cognitive muscle and basically become chained to this technology. People literally get their facts wrong because an AI told them the wrong thing. I'm specifically against generative AI (like chatgpt, deepseek, etc etc), but not against using AI for in research in scientific fields like molecular research.

These people were a lot more reasonable about ai than people in the west. They recognize the implications better than people around me from what ive seen

It feels many people thinking AI as one entity, rather than different productive tools made by companies.

I feel that if this question were asked in Arkansas the results would be different.

On net... They aren't massively biased towards being afraid and probably expect to be able to figure stuff out.

It seems a bit short sighted to say that because the current iteration of a technology seems safe, that there's nothing to fear.

East vs. West: Privacy, Philosophy & Science

Western societies value individual privacy and freedom, rooted in Greek philosophy, Christian humanism, and the Enlightenment. These cultures stress personal rights, critical thinking, and intellectual autonomy. Laws like the EU’s GDPR show strong data protection. Philosophy and theoretical science are key in education, encouraging reflection and questioning.

Eastern societies, shaped by Confucianism, emphasize social order, respect for authority, and collectivism. People are more used to structure and less likely to challenge norms. Education focuses on practical knowledge and applied sciences, with less emphasis on abstract thought.
In short, the West leans toward philosophy and theory, while the East favors application and discipline—but both are evolving.

No matter China or elsewhere, it seems that people who use AI the most for their job and aren’t afraid of it probably won’t even have a job in the near future since AI is doing a lot of their job now 😂

I relate with this video, I use AI everyday already, like using Gemini to open an app without clicking on the app icon on my phone, or to help me with my schoolwork, and even prevent myself from losing hearts if I'm not sure if I got it right or not with Duolingo. I think it's ok for AI to develop further as long as it's mostly ethical and beneficial.
