So I just got a new Compaq computer for Christmas. My old laptop couldn't play Fallout 3 (something about ROM), so I was real excited to try it on my fancy new computer. It works fine and soon I'll be installing all the Add-Ons with disk 2. However, being used to playing Fallout 3 with a controller, I found the controls confusing. I need help on 2 problems: 1: I plugged my 360 controller with a cord that also recharges into the big box beside my computer, but that didn't work. 2: My computer

First off, I've just gotten into modding. I saw that FNV has its own modding program and I love fallout, so I figured I'd try it out.

I downloaded the GECK and put the 4 files that you extract from WinRAR into the FNV downloaded files, and that works all fine and dandy. Although, while I run the GECK it seems that it's not updated 100% or I might have done something wrong because when i go to create a simple NPC a lot of stuff is left out (ex. when i click the "Race" toolbar it says "none" instead of "Caucasian, African-American, etc." Then when I get so far down the line of creating my NPC the GECK stops working. It will normally say something like "program has stopped working and windows will contact you when a solution is found" or somethin close to that.

I realize that the game FNV is pretty old and most of you might not be able to help me, but any sort of support would be great. Thanks!!!

You mentioned Nifscope for ppl who are interested in doing textures but what about that programm where u can change and create new Outfits and Clothing? What is that called again and where can i get it?

because it appears u didn't do anymore geck tutorials and everyone else is pretty bad at explaining things: is it possible to use weapon models from other games (eg. taking the M16 model from Medal of Honor or the crossbow model from COD Black Ops. If it is possible, how do you get the models? and would u have to have those games on CPU in order to get the models?

Can I still instal FOMM if I've installed MO2 and have it work properly?

How do I edit an already existing ESP file from someone else's mod to change it for my own needs? I tried using "import", but it would only allow for me to import text files into the GECK.

so this is probably a stupid thing to ask but you need fallout new vegas downloaded on your computer in order for the geck to work right? or can you just fool around with the geck until you instal the game

Hey I am really new to GECK and the only reason why I got it is just to add weapons to loot and Vender lists.
Do you have a video that explains that?

@yhetti64 says downloading the geck could cause harm to my computer. I tried to download the Fallout 3 geck, but the message scared me nto stopping. Should I download the Geck anyway? How do I make my 360 controller work?

So in order to fix this, I've given up trying to edit the script. I want to create a custom cell - a vault, house, whatever - with a series of doors that "teleport" me to all the places I can't access in-game. A "door" into Tranquility Lane, a "door" into the Project Purity intake pipes, and a "door" into Lamplight's Great Cavern. I've played around with the Geck and tweaked some of the Weapons, Armor, and NPCs more to my liking, but have no experience changing the worldspace. Possible?

Simple question: Can I load existing esp/esm file in GECK and change some things that I dont like and then save like esp/esm again. I just start using geck and dont see any way to work on already finished esp/esm files. I want to change a simple mod to my tastes (eg. eating/drinking animation) . Can u show some us some tips how to exactly load/edit existing mods. Thanks.

do I need a script extender or is that only if you download mods from places like the nexes

I am sure that there is a problem with FO3\FO:NV but there are tons of tweaks to fix it

This may be a really stupid question, but i'm going to ask it anyway. Do you need Fallout 3 to be able to use the G.E.C.K?

It will most likely be Blender, it is a free 3D modelling program that you can use to make content for many games. However one does not simply just get it and expect to know how to use it. It requires weeks/months of training to learn it. Tutorials are either uninformative or have no audio at all.
