Kobe declined the trade to Chicago because they would give up too much depth and the lakers didn’t win 3 rings after the Kobe trade saga. The lakers 3 peat was from 2000-2002. Lebron wasn’t drafted until the season after Kobe won his 3rd ring. Kobe didn’t request a trade until 2007. Which is when they tried to trade him for lebron but instead brought in pau gasol and went on to win back to back titles in ‘09 and ‘10.
