Rising global temperatures have made extreme weather events like floods and wildfires more devastating. Climate disasters are causing billions of dollars in damage and hitting the poorest countries the hardest. But wealthy countries are responsible for the majority of earth-warming carbon emissions. A key question at the COP27 climate conference is: who should pay for the loss and damage due to climate change? DW takes a look at what developing countries want and what the world's biggest carbon emitters are willing to pay.

Better for rich countries to develop new ways to reduce emissions. That will help everyone. You can’t trust the corrupt governments to spend any money they might receive properly.

Highly industrialized economies like Germany are also responsible for climate change around the world. Germany is also responsible, not only other developed countries.

The billionaires. They have gained the most. Surely the tax payers have given enough. Living hand to mouth for the most part.

That's easy - Russia, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia. And Brazil if they watch themselves.

This question of "who will pay for this" is actually the REASON behind our problems. It should've been "how much you're going to suffer (financially or otherwise) if you don't stop emitting so much CO2 and other gasses". We need solutions, not "shut the f$$$ up" money. That money is made by creating the problem in the first place.

To move forward a framework is needed to ensure all countries contribute to Climate Action proportionate to their GDP. Which means richer countries will always pay more! Going backwards may be problematic.
