The Octavia E Butler predictions are scarily accurate! Great video, you’re making me want to reread some dystopian classics!

The Titanic prediction is seriously creepy though.

I adore you for mentioning Sultana's Dream. I only read it few days ago (and I loved it) as I've never seen it talked about on booktube or bookstagram, which is shameful considering I am of Bangali origins like Rokeya Hossain. Thank you for this great video!

I spent a lot of time thinking about 1984 vs Brave New World vs Farenheit 451 over 2020. My conclusion is that we are somewhere between 1984 and BNW, much closer to BNW, but with the specter of Orewellian totalitarianism constantly stalking us (whether in reality or in our minds). Whether our proximity to BNW's conditions is truly driven by some intentional control mechanism vs driven by a free market economy is extremely difficult to ascertain without diving into conspiracy theories. But Huxley did seem to almost be a seer as to what would come in the future for western societies.

Animal Farm was a satire of Stalinism. Brave New World is eerily close to our current times, the consumerism, the feelies and soma occupying and distracting the lower classes.

Severance by Ling Ma predicted a lot of aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic! (Not the zombies though...)

This kind of stuff me out.. like Paul Tremblay's book, Survivor Song.. it's WAY too similar to covid-19

Not even Orwell could have predicted Trump, pigs on two legs or not. That WOULD have been spooky.

Political correctness ... Read the novel *One* by David Karp published in the United States in 1953 and in Britain by Gollancz in 1954.
My Penguin Modern Classics edition is from 1969. The cover of this American novel carries a detail from a painting by Edward Hopper.
