It's like that Alan Watts video on existence. We are always thinking that the satisfaction will come in the future. Don't kid yourself. We eventually become slaves to hope.

That's an interesting insight, Lana. It has it's application for sure, but we have to limit its use, too. In the future, faithful, practising, repentant Christians will enjoy such blessedness as we will never enjoy now. So we are to be future oriented, that the domain of teleology, but also be thankful for what the Lord gives us to do and enjoy in the present. So, it's a bit of both.

Just gamify it. It helps. Scaling fish? Make it a game. Making dinner? Make it a game. The way you think if a given task simplifies thing.
I've done a number of different jobs and even one of the worst of them was tolerable (for the most) and my efficiency was quite high each month. Would I do that job again? No. But now I know a little more about something. Oddly, no managers there had an issue with me, except this one guy who started after I'd been there for a year or so already. His name was Al. He was being a bit of a d**k. So I voiced my concerns. It continued. So I just walked out the door (although another guy tried to block my path, George). After I left the place, I got news from former coworkers that Al got fired around a month after I quit.
