As a blind man can i just say, about time too! The blind community are grossly underrepresented in the aviation industry ❤😂

We're living in times when comedians are reporting real issues and news reporters are doing comedy

Airplanes mostly fly themselves. Pilot is just a baby sitter to calm the passengers

I need an Asian pilot who can lay up an airplane, a black pilot who can dunk an airplane, a white pilot who can shoot an airplane.

I'm an 11, 000 hour private jet captain flying Gulfstream all over the world. Delta wouldn't give me the time of day, but they hired my female copilot that was a VERY weak pilot with very little aviation skill. She had 2500 hours. Never been a captain on a jet of any sort. Never had to make decisions of any kind. Don't even get me started on how she acted during two separate emergencies. I guess I didn't read that part in the checklist that said "screaming like a 6 year old" was a valid action to solve the problem.

And yet... she is flying 767's for Delta, because diversity.

The airlines used to do simulator evaluations during the interview process to see if you could fly and handle stressful situations. That no longer exists. Your technical knowledge is no longer important. Your stick and rudder skills are no longer important. Your HR interview is where it's at.

By the way... I have nothing against women pilots. I've known some very skilled and competent women pilots that deserve to be hired and promoted. I believe they deserve opportunities. But only based on merit, not gender or race.

Shouldn't the most important question be... "can you skilfully fly a plane? "

Doesn't matter color or gender, I want the best pilots.

I’m Asian. This diversity is getting out of hand. It’s meritocracy we need. Just do the job!

When the punch line is common sense. That's when you know our world has gone mad.

Couldn’t agree more and I am not white nor an American. But what happened to hard work and competition

Lol after that joke I'm thinking maybe United airlines shouldn't be my first choice.

The one guy that went "woo" probably felt weird after that.

I think all races can agree on this. IDGAF what race the pilot is as long as they are the qualified competent experienced pilots.

I'm an immigrant, and I'm sick and tired of these companies talking about diversity. Just hire the right person and stop this diversity crap

As an aspiring pilot with no arms and legs, I see this as an absolute win

I was heavily invested in United Airlines. The minute I heard that announcement, I sold every share I had.
