Hessien - The Lamb

Hessien is the artist’s name of teacher, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Keith Murphy.
Keith’s passion has always been found in supporting others in their creative and musical journeys. A secondary school music teacher by day and a composer and performer by night, he sees it as very much being two sides of the same coin. Keith says “It is a privileged position to work with young people, and I am fortunate to have spent the past twenty years doing just that. Hearing and nurturing their creative ideas and providing opportunities to expand their musical horizons, always inspires and motivates me.”
When not in the classroom, Keith will most likely be found in his studio where over the years he has composed music for the media, written for orchestras and chamber ensembles, won several awards, written recorded songs with his band and most recently been focusing on the development of his own electronic music. Keith’s debut album ‘Seven Stones,’ his first under the Hessien moniker, was released during the UK Coronavirus lockdown in June 2020. It was his first foray into an ambient, electronic sound world. It is soon to be followed up by a new release ‘Afterlight,’ which has been described as, “music for when the lights go down.” Keith says about Afterlight, “It is a through the night album starting from the final light of the day until first light in the morning. Perhaps it best reflects some of the times of day I was working on the tracks in the studio, which was usually fairly late into the evening, or very early in the morning.”

Afterlight will be released on Friday 25th November 2022.

I did not know this musician, my friend. What I liked most about what you explain is that he works with young people. And I think that this is something good for him and for the young people, that there is a mutual rapprochement, mutual learning and mutual collaboration.
