Axiom x Roux

This is my 10th year as general counsel. Roux is an environmental consulting firm. We service clients nationally and overseas. We have offices in many of the states, and I'm a very, very small department, and so I need the expertise in certain niche areas. As a general counsel, you're a generalist, and so I can't know everything about everything. It's very nice to have Axiom in my back pocket to support me in those areas where I don't have either the bandwidth—which is quite often—or I just don't have the expertise.

What makes the talent "first rate" are two things. Number one is their experience entirely, that being that they're experienced attorneys for a specific duration. But also, at least in my experience, a lot of former In-House attorneys. And I think the approach of someone with that experience is a lot more practical and useful.

They look at the big picture. They think about how the legal advice or product that they're providing to me not only comes from a lawyer, but also someone who understands how business works and what their legal advice is might affect the business from a practical perspective.

So what do you want from a service provider of this sort? You want great service and you want high quality talent.
