This one is overheated or at least that's what the charger says. Could it be a bad thermal resistor (thermistor)? Or maybe not! I'm going to tear it down and find out!

THE BANG TRICK WORKED .SO glad I saw the comments about banging the battery from about a foot off the ground and dropping it. IT WORKED I had THREE bad batteries. ALL THREE have been working GREAT since May and I recharge and use the OFTEN. HOLY GUACAMOLE. Those three bad ones were here for over a year. I bought two news ones for 200 bucks a piece but something told me NOT to throw those bad ones out. THREE bad batteries now working PERFECTLY for five months with CONSTANT charging. I have the lawn mower, leaf blower and snow blower and I use the blower daily and the lawn mower once per week. HUGE area. SO glad I was the comments about BANGING the batteries. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

THE DROP METHOD ACTUALLY WORKS:

I was having the same issue with my 2.5V battery. I dropped 3 separate times at different angles & put it back on the charger. I came back 20 minutes later & plugged it back into my leaf blower… it started working again. This actually fixed my battery issue ❤️❤️❤️

I had the same problem with the same EGO 56v 5Ah battery. The red, non flashing "overheat' light remained on and it would not charge, even hours after the battery was at room temp. I put the battery in a ziplock bag and put it in the freezer overnight. Next day, I let it warm up to room temp inside the ziplock bag after I removed it from the freezer so condensation would not form inside the battery. It now works & charges.

I pulled my 7.5A/h pack apart as it would start to charge then stop and the charger would switch off. After pulling it apart I noticed the terminals were really dirty. So I carefully cleaned then and batts looked to be OK so reassembled and now its working perfectly! Thanks for showing me how to get it apart and test.

The one piece of advice I'd give all ego customers is this: register your batteries!! They have a good 3 year warranty if you register them, and they are very good at replacing batteries that have started losing their ability to hold a charge. I just replaced a 2.5ah, a 5ah and a 10ah battery, and all I had to do was call EGO and tell them they weren't holding a charge any more and they sent me three brand new batteries. They would have cost me about $900 or so, so that's a great deal. Now I'm set for at least another 2-3 years, and before the warranty on the new batteries goes out of date, I'll replace those as well. So now I have new batteries and the old ones as backups. REGISTER YOUR EGO EQUIPMENT AND BATTERIES!

When i had this issue, i dropped it on the floor about 1 foot off the ground.... it fixed the issue 🤣 . Found that fix from a comment on reddit, and Apparently its worked for many people. For a product so expensive, these batteries are built pretty cheaply.

Excellent video. Diagnosed to find the culprit is what it is all about.

Also found out when attempting to replace one of my dead batteries, EGO had the info for the warrenty on file, but because they didn't have a copy of the reciept on the dead one, they would not honor it, even though they acknowledged i purchased it as a new product. They said it was up to me to find my two+ year old receipt. Rethinking about staying with EGO. Really ticked me off.

Dude, the stuff that is encasing the BMS actually comes off fairly easy on some of the batteries. Fuse on the larger batteries are bigger too. Man your vids inspire me to make more vids!

Do you know what the 2 little red wires are for on each bms connector. (The 2 wires next to the thermistor)

You explain things really well thank you!
P.S. On a crank sensor (red / black / blue wires) how do I check the polarity of the red and black - is it OK to just swap over and see if it works?
