In most European cities speeds have slowly decreased over time. You are being fooled by the marketing if you honestly believe 5G is going to give you 1000Mb/s download speeds. No matter how great the mast is (5G) it's still the same old tired network infrastructure behind it. As soon as everybody connects you'll be back to 1Mb/s. 4G is capable of blazing fast speed, even 3G is. Nobody is debating that 5G masts are more efficient, have less latency but you will NEVER see the benefits except on a test network.
