I remember him from the Memphis club scene in the 80's.Many of my older friends and acquaintainces remember him from the early 70's.Under appreciated by so many, but that voice is right there with Waylon and Hank Jr.

Any song is always better when it's performed by the person who wrote it. The sadness is obvious when you hear Tony singing this song. And the accompaniment on piano by Jools Holland Is solid gold..

I don't think anyone can listen to this without becoming a bit sad or melancholy. Taking them back to something that happened in their lives that cause them to be hurt. The kind of hurt where you just want to crawl away someplace for a while to find a place to shelter. Hoping the next day things will be better.

Rest in peace Tony no more rainy nights for you.
