Running stateful applications in Kubernetes can be problematic due to the large number of storage providers and data services all with their own set of APIs and operational concerns. We’ve open sourced Kanister to help address these concerns.
Kanister is a data operations framework for stateful services running on Kubernetes. It’s APIs are built using Kubernetes API extensions, so it can easily be integrated with your existing tools and workflows. It has flexible volume management support through CSI, native APIs or via restic. If one of the existing integrations with open source databases doesn’t meet your needs, then they can be modified and extended to match your requirements.
This talk will give an overview of Kanister and include a demo of using kanister to backup and restore a TBD database. It is relevant for anyone interested in running stateful applications in Kubernetes
