He may be "assisted by a human" today, but even that in itself, to be able to wear a motion tracking suit in real time controlling a robot in a different location with the dexterity that they had on display with the hardware available inside the robot is absolutely incredible altogether on its own already. The software running the robot can come later, building the actual robot and being able to stand and walk on its own is incredibly hard, let alone having him hold things and exchange objects between hands. Everybody seems to be super upset that the robots were assisted by humans during the event, but everybody seems to gloss over how incredibly amazing it is that these hardware pieces even exist.
