I have a Masters in Ministry (from a real university and not a diploma mill) and I think your channel does a great service to people wanting to understand the maze of Christian denominations. I hope to go through your channel and watch many of the episodes you've done. I'll give the Christian Church (Disciples) one thing, when nicely rendered, the chalice with the cross as a sparkle on it is a very clever logo.

Update to this. Disciples of Christ accept all to the table of leadership. This is one of the few things we believe in

Confessional churches tend to be more conservative and biblical. Having more specific belief points is a hedge against error/heresy. Thankful for my PCA church/heritage but bless my other brothers/sisters in Christ

A lot of very interesting views of the DOC here. I was Baptized DOC and have been a member of 4 different Disciples congregations (having been dedicated at birth at a 5th) and I think one major point is being missed here in the comments. Disciples churches are congregationalists, so while the denomination as a whole may have very theologically liberal views, that is only because liberal congregations make the most noise and complain to have the doctrine of the denomination changed. But since each congregation governs itself they just ignore the changes to keep with the traditional teachings of Christ. I think there is a fair chance that Disciples churches reflect the area in which the reside. Being from a conservative area (the American south) each of the congregations I've been a member of has been rather theologically conservative. That being said, it does break my heart to see the stance that the denomination has taken on many social/theological issues.

So your pretty much saying these churches are unorthodox religious social clubs.

One note- most Disciples ministers will rebaptize if it is important to the believed, but it’s not requirement or even recommended, purely just a personal choice folks can make

I almost joined a Disciples of Christ Church, but all the actual faithful traditional Christians were old and tiresome, while the pastor was the more theologically liberal one. God have mercy on them, and I pray their denomination finds its way.

Is it worth a video on Disciples Heritage Fellowship? It's a splinter group from DOC.

I notice that the term "believers" or "belief" is emphasized. A belief is a theory (or feeling) that is not provable by facts. The bible falls into that category since it was written by men. That's why there are so many interpretations of religion.

Can you do a video on Yahwist churches?

Some people on this thread have forgotten Paul's teachings in Romans 14 and it shows.

I think the current Churches of Christ split from what is now the Disciples of Christ in 1906 and not vice versa as is claimed. The Disciples of Christ continue Alexandar Campbells tradition, have his Bethany College and have even erected statues of him and Barton Stone's (some by a building on Vanderbilt University which used to be the building of the Library for Bethany College). Campbell was much more ecumenical than the current CoC and Campbell tolerated things like instrumental music (although he favor the simplicity of a cappella singing). Reference Richard Hughes book Restoring the Ancient Faith. The current CoC maintain Campbell's legalistic interpretation of scripture and are even more legalistic than him but do not share Campbells desire for all Churches to come together, they want all people to convert to CoC. To Campbell nothing was more important than stopping divisions among Christians and uniting.

The Disciples of Christ also allowed Jim Jones and the The Peoples Temple to join them in 1959. This relationship continued through to the Jonestown Massacre.

In sociological terms, they are Christians. But in doctrinal terms, some believers don't see them as Christians because their doctrine differs fundamentally.

So, in other words, they're NOT a Christian denomination.

I’ve been worshipping at one for some time and while the congregation is made up of good people who love Jesus, there is a wokeness among leadership which seems more interested in being politically correct than teaching the gospel.

As a member of the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ, one of the things that irritates me the most is that outsiders confuse us for the Disciples, whom I consider to mostly be unbelievers who have abandoned true Christianity in the same way that liberal mainline Protestant denominations have.

GRAMMAR MONKEY: "every church decides for [it]self". Singulars throughout.
