this is the most beautiful song I have heard and listened to the last 6 months. it reminds me of when I lived at Morningside, Pittsburgh, PA. i used to play french songs on the guitar and on the porch in the morning. i am still playing on the same guitare 20 years from then. this song also led me to Neil young's wich is also an absolute jewel. thank you so much John for having me cry and laugh depending on why I listen to your song and always sing along with you. I often sing it spontaneously a capella when I come across a fellow armoricain US citizen visiting my city, here at Rennes, Britain, France, and can't but feel grateful ov' the good memories and warm welcome I received in the USA at a rough time, the early 2000's and happy to be friendly and welcoming to any American traveling abroad.

k bye 👋😊

This song deeply inspires me. Many of John Gorka's songs have -- over the years -- shaped the way that I think about life.

John, I've been a fan since I was 17 in early 1995. Theres a long story there, but i womt bore you with it.
Point is, I bought my first John Gorka cassette, yes cassette, after school one day in Strawberries in suburban Philadelphia. It was Land of the Bottom Line and I was hooked on your lyrics and music instantly!
(By the way, my favorite on the album is Raven In The Storm although I love them all.
I only saw you twice in concert and that's a shame, so thank you so much for doing these little live Versions from your home.
It means a lot to me, a guy who grew up with my peers listening to (c)rap and born to late to fully enjoy the singer songwriters of the 60s and 70s like Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens Simon and Garfunkel, CSN, CSNY, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, etc, etc.
You're awesome brother and keep on keeping on!

The Company You Keep was an album I would listen to between travelling between college in Ely, MN and home in northwestern WI. I always feel nostalgia when I hear anything off of that album.

I first saw John Gorka on the rotating stage at the 1992 Mariposa Festival. He played
Where the Bottles Break (check out his "Donald, what's his name" dunk on that), and I said... I've got to follow this guy. Wow! Brilliant writing, voice like honey, and as real a person as it gets. Thanks for sharing your gifts, John.

And there are days which bleed into nights on this ever accelerating bullet train to oblivion. And I search and wander for music and songs and musicians that inspire me. That fill my spiritual lungs with the blessing winds of hope and dreaming that's more than just dreaming - but making this life and my place here on this planet worth even more - and, as Dan Bern's song ends (spoiler alert) where he's talking to God and God keeps having him get closer and he keeps asking and he says "closer" and finally whispers in his ear "the best is yet to be". And your song, Johnny G. - this song fills my sail with the wind that we the aging find billowing our sails as it once did when we were younger men and women. Keep dreaming your uphill extreme dreams because no light is truly fading as long as it's still light.

As a 58-year-old who's actually trying to change careers at a "late date", these lyrics hit home and inspire. Thank you so much for them. Reminder to all of us to keep a young frame of mind! Hope you're staying young too.
