RE5R05A Coolant Contamination, Nissan Pathfinder - Transmission Repair

preview_player
Показать описание
2005 Nissan Pathfinder with coolant contamination on the transmission. This is a common problen on this vehicles and has become very expensive to fix. One of the reasons is that basically all of this units have the same issue and is hard to get a TCM or a valve body that has not been contaminated with coolant. So I take action and try to save the TCM when possible. Sometimes it doesn'nt work but we always give it a try. The more you drive this transmission contaminated, the less chancess of survival...So please, as a praventive measure, replace your radiator or install an external cooler and bypass the radiator...If you live in a very cold zone, then replace your radiator. Otherwise the trans fluid will gel and wont warm up. Please Subscribe, click the Like button and leave your possitive comments. Thanks for watching.

Quick tip on removing the solenoids. I have one on the bench now and all the rubber in the unit was swollen bad which is making getting solenoids out without breaking them. I cleaned the valve body as well as I could and put it in the freezer for a few hours. This shrunk the rubber and the solenoids came right out

If you are a 2000's pathfinder owner dont forget to bypass the stupid cooler that's inside the radiator. It will fail. I was getting very bad Torque Converter chatter because i never serviced the transmission or bypassed the oil cooler that's inside. After changing and NOT FLUSHING the transmission fluid and bypassing the oil lines the chatter on a scale of 1 to 10 went from a 10 to about a 2. It's not perfect but i think it was saved. Car shifts fine no loss of power and just a slight chatter.

Has the coolant leak into the transmission issue been fixed on newer vehicles, like 2015 and newer? Frontier included.

Habibi, I followed your procedure and ended up with p1754 after 300 miles. You need to repair the sealed circuit in the silver box.

Hi Hiram your video is 100% insight into what the issue is with my 2009 4x4 nissan xterra. Radiator fluid got into my transmission and I'm presently in dire need of a TCM replacement. Can you point me in the right direction?

@hiram Gutierrez Thank you. Nissan has tried making me replace the ECM for $1500+. I refused to believe them because they too were not certain about this issue. Based on this video and contacting other ECM specialists they were skeptical that it was not the ECM rather it being the TCM.
I am replacing my transmission/radiator and TCM at the nissan dealership will this resolve my problem with the no crank/ no start or does further work need to be done?

Hello Hiram, I have the same transmission, no coolant contamination but the trans temps are a lot higher than before. I bypassed the radiator, have a second trans cooler in series with the OE one, even have an electric fan on one of them. I installed a temperature sender into the transmission pressure test port to see the temps. It runs at 180degF and used to only run at 150-165 before. Do you know what may be wrong?
