D1ck Williams was a Titanic survivor who faced a difficult medical decision. After spending 6 hours in freezing water, rescue doctors recommended amputating both his legs, but Williams refused. Despite this setback, he went on to achieve great things in his life. He won the Wimbledon Men's Doubles in 1920, served in the U.S. Army during World War I and was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur and Croix de Guerre. He also had a successful career as an investment banker and was President of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania for 22 years. Williams passed away at the age of 77 due to emphysema and was buried in St. David's Churchyard in Devon, Pennsylvania.
