Reservation in Promotion | Article 16 | Equality of opportunity in matters of public employment| COI

Article 16 of the Constitution of India guarantees to its citizens equality of opportunity in matters of public employment. Article 16(1) contains this principle as follows:
“16. Equality of opportunity in matters of public employment.—(1) There shall be equality of opportunity for all citizens in matters relating to employment or appointment to any office under the State. Clause 4 and 4A of Article 16 deals with reservation and reservation in matters of promotion respectively.
